The Sa'i Guide

Sa'i is walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa and ending at Marwah. It recalls Hajar's search for water for her son Isma'il, and it is performed after Tawaf.

How the seven are counted

Begin at Safa and walk to Marwah — that is one. Marwah back to Safa is two. Continue until you finish the seventh trip at Marwah. Each one-way journey counts as one, so you end at Marwah.

Between the two green markers, men walk briskly (women walk normally). The rest of the way is walked at an easy pace. There is no fixed du'a for each trip — supplicate freely.

Common questions

Is there wheelchair access for Sa'i?

Yes. The mas'a (the Safa–Marwah area) has smooth floors and dedicated wheelchair lanes, and wheelchairs are available. Tell your group leader in advance if anyone needs assistance.
